Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 3 Apr 1940

Walter E. Mead, 46, born March 1st, 1894, in Ionia, died Wednesday, April 3, at the
St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Rapids.  Mead moved from Ionia when he was about six
years old to Grand Rapids, which was his residence for the rest of his life.  He
enlisted in the United States army June 24, 1918 and was sent to Europe, July 22,
1918, where he saw action in France, England and Russia.  He was a private in the
337 field hospital medical corp.  He returned to the United States July 7, 1919.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Jyraldi Mead, also of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, April 6, at 2 p.m. from the Myers
funeral home.  Interment will be in the family lot in Highland Park cemetery.
