Ionia Sentinel Standard – 1 August 1967
Mrs. Margaret C. Meade, 95, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harold Lakin 
of rural Portland Saturday.   Her funeral was Monday at 3:30 pm at Neller 
funeral home in Portland.  The Rev. Raymond Norton of the Portland Methodist 
church officiated and burial was in Portland Cemetery.  A memorial  is being 
established for the church.  



Mrs. Meade was born January 11, 1872, in Remington, Ind., and had been living 
with her daughter at the time of her death.  Survivors include four sons, 
Russell and Fred of Lansing, Leslie of Portland, and Ernest of Asheville, N.C.; 
a sister, Nellie Meade of Kalamazoo, 12 grandchildren and 39 great 
grandchildren.  Bearers were Howard Coe, Gerald Huhn, Dave Vogt, Norman Klein, 
Laban Smith and Justin Balderson.
