His death was preceded by a two weeks illness which was at first caused by a severe attack of quinsy, which in clearing up, developed into pneumonia, with fatal effects. Mr. Meade was one of the best known and best loved men in Orleans township. He had a faculty of making friends and making money and was looked upon as a successful man willing to go the limit in any effort to assist a friend or any person whom he knew to be of industrious habits and worthy of assistance. His counsel was considered of the best and many a man can look back to Mr. Meade’s advice and financial assistance as having been the cause of his “start “ in life. Born in Orleans township, 54 years ago, Mr. Meade spent practically his entire life there and at his funeral which was held on Monday afternoon a great throng of people came to pay their respects and last honor to the man and the burial was in Orleans cemetery. On September 22, 1891 Mr. Mead was married to Miss Elsie Nichols, of Easton, who with a son, Dr. W. K. Meade and family, of Detroit, and his father, Albert Mead, of Orleans, survive.
