SUSAN ANN MEAGHER
Died Monday July 26, 2021-age 67 of Belding at SKLD Medical Center in Ionia.
Born in Greenville, MI on September 16, 1953.
Daughter of Wilford R. and Othela M. (Coleman) Shawley.
Graduated from Belding high school, then educated at Hillsdale College, 
transferring to Grand Valley State University to complete her Bachelors-Degree 
in Education.
Susi taught at Belding High Schools from 1992 until retiring in 2014.
She had many interests through the years, including quilting & photography.
She had a passion for traveling. She & another teacher traveled to Mexico to 
teach a six week summer program.
Susi and her sister traveled to Egypt, Japan and several places in Europe.
She raised & cared for Sphynx cats, along with her dog.
Was active in community, serving a member of the Ionia County Community Health 
Board, know as "The Right Door"
A Member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, enjoying singing.
She will be remembered & missed by her sister, Deborah J.McPeek-McFadden of 
Belding; aunt, Jeanette Strouse of Clare; several cousins & many friends.
Was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Collin; and many aunts, uncles, 
and cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Verdun Family 
Funeral home, Belding.
Celebration of Life at 11 am on Thursday, August 19, at Holy Cross Lutheran 
Church, High St., Belding.
Consider a donation to Alvah N.Belding Memorial Library, Ionia Area Hospice or 
the animal shelter or rescue organization of the donor's choice.
