Meeker, 48 years of age, passed away Friday evening at his home on West Washington street, following a short illness of heart disease. Mr. Meeker married Miss Zola Isham, of this city and for several years they lived at his home in Chicago, but three or four years ago they came to this city where Mr. Meeker, who was an artist of no mean ability, set up in his business of sign painter and decorator. Some time after coming here he went to Ionia and opened up a shop in the county seat city and was enjoying a fine and profitable business at the time he was stricken with his last illness. Since coming to this city Mr. Meeker, through his personality and business, made many friends who were shocked and pained to learn of his death, which came quite unexpectedly on Friday. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock from the residence, Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating and burial was in River Ridge cemetery. Surviving are the widow and a daughter Jean, aged five years, who have the sympathy of their many friends in their hour of sorrow.
