Meisling had been in Florida vacationing when he suffered a heart attack. He had been unconscious since the attack and had been ill with a heart ailment for several years. He had been associated in the grocery business for many years. About 10 years ago he opened a grocery store on West Main street next to the Trojan Knitting Mill. Previously he had been associated in the Fuszek Meat Market and was meat manager of the Kroger store in Ionia for many years. He had been active in the affairs of Ionia and for many years had been an active member of the Ionia Lions club holding various offices in the club. He was born in Ionia and had lived his entire life here. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Betty Fuller of Ionia and Mrs. Jean Dunmore of Adrian, both of whom are registered nurses who flew to his bedside following his illness two weeks ago; three sisters, Mrs. Emma Stong of Detroit, Mrs. Marie Maynard of Lansing and Mrs. Clara Gaut of Ionia; four brothers, Reinhold and Otto of Ionia, Herman and Frank Meisling of Kalamazoo; and three grandchildren. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran church. Funeral services have not yet been announced. ------------ The body of Alfred E. Meisling, 56, of Ionia, who died Wednesday morning in Clearwater, Florida, will arrive in Ionia Friday afternoon and will repose at Phelps funeral chapel. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at St. John’s Lutheran church with the Rev. Eric Cash officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers and contribute to the St. John’s Lutheran school fund as a memorial to Mr. Meisling.
