A former produce manager for Portland area stores, Dee H. Meitler, 68, of 629 
Academy road, died December 30 in St. Lawrence hospital, Lansing.   was 
formerly a produce manager for Kroger stores in Portland and prior to his 
retirement in the past year, was produce manager of Lear’s grocery in Portland 
for about one year.

Surviving is his wife Marie, two sons, Thomas of Portland and James of Lansing; 
one daughter, Mrs. Beverly Platte of Westphalia; six grandchildren; one 
brother, Victor of Eureka, Han. and one sister, Mrs. Grayce Urie of 
Springfield, Missouri.

Services were at noon December 30 in St. Patrick Catholic church with Fr. Larry 
Hartwick officiating.

Bearers were Evert Manshum, Robert Lear, Dr. Clayton Kokx, James Ben Tall, 
Bernard Goodwin and Edward Mailek.  Burial was in Portland cemetery.
