Bever became ill Sunday, Aug, 28 but a physician was not called until Wednesday when he lost the use of his legs. Bever was removed about 5 p.m. Wednesday to Butterworth hospital where he was placed in a chest respirator. Thursday his condition was reported by hospital authorities as being critical and they said that he had been placed on the ‘dangerously ill list.’ Melvin was born in Muir, the only child of James and Flossie Bever. About twelve years ago Bever and his mother, Flossie Bever Bell, who survives him, moved to Ionia. Bever was a junk dealer. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Shaw Rivett funeral home in Muir. Interment will be in Muir cemetery.
