Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Shaw-Rivett-Hull funeral home in Muir with burial in Muir cemetery. Rev. Manson Lowe will officiate. He was born the son of Edward and Ethel Cholvin Melvin, Sr., on January 9, 1913, in Chatsworth, Ill. He came to a farm north of Pewamo when he was five. June 8, 1942 he married Dorothy Weber of Fowler. He is a former employee of Nash-Kelvinator and Fisher Body in Lansing. Melvin had been working his mother’s farm north of Pewamo the past ten years. Survivors are his wife, Dorothy, four sons, Charles, stationed with U.S. Navy in Boston, Mass.; Terrance, serving with Army in Ft. Bennington, Ga.; Jeffery and Timothy at home; two daughters; Catherine at home and Mrs. Ray Badder of Lyons, three grandchildren, a stepmother, Mrs. Edith Melvin of Muir; sister, Mrs. Lloyd Bissell of St. Johns, half sister, Mrs. William Durbin of Carson City; stepsister, Mrs. Robert Fox of Fowler, and two half brothers, Joseph and Charles Melvin of Muir.
