Dorothy C. Melvin, age 92, of Ionia passed away April 12, 2015, in Ionia.  She was
born Sept. 18, 1922, in St. Johns, Michigan, the daughter of William and Catherine
(George) Weber.  Dorothy married Edward Melvin June 2, 1942.  He preceded her in
death in 1967.  She resided at Heartland Care for several years.

She enjoyed bowling, traveling, gardening and playing bingo and she loved spending
time with her family, especially all the grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Charles Melvin of South Carolina, Terrance
Melvin of Lansing, Catherine (Greg) Kemp of Ionia and Timothy Melvin of Lake Orion;
brother, Urban Weber of Fowler, sister, Rita Sonday of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren;
13 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and a special friend,
Virginia Worthington. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; two children, Ethel Badder and
Jeffery Melvin, seven brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 17, 2015, at SS Peter & Paul
Catholic Church with Father Garcia Luis celebrant.  Visitation will be held Thursday
4-7 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.  Memorial contributions may6 be made to SS
Peter & Paul Church, American Heart Association or St. Judes.
