She was born February 2, 1919 in Fish Ponds, Bristol, England the daughter of Gilbert and Kate Pearce. Phyllis was a member of the O.E.S. Portland Chapter, the V.F.W. Post #4090 Ladies Auxiliary and along with her husband, Howard owned and operated Menold's Flowers for many years. Phyllis was the only woman from Bristol to be a member of the British Air Raid Warden during World War II and at that time she met her husband, Howard and they married in 1944. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; son, Rex and a brother, John Pearce. Surviving are her children Lyndrea (Dennis) Wieber and John (Diane) Menold; grandchildren Shaun Wieber, Tim Wieber, Jason Wieber, Rex (Tori) Menold, Carrie (Michael) Menold-McRivette, Eric Menold and John Menold; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. The Memorial Service will be conducted by Rev. Dr. Marilyn V. Danielson, First Congregational Church, at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. Interment will be in Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the V.F.W.
