F. Jean (Snyder) Mercer passed away Sunday March 27. 2011. She was born May 29, 
1927 in Edmore, to Franklin J. and Berenice Snyder Jensen. She was married in 
1946 to LaVern Donley Mercer who preceded her in death in 2000.

She was a long-time member of the Eastern Stars 111, United Methodist Church, 
VFW Post No. 2292, Edmore Alumni and she served Home Township as an elected 
official for many years. She also supported many animal welfare organizations. 
She was a bookkeeper for several small businesses in the area. She accompanied 
students, individuals and organizations with her piano talents. 

She is survived by her children, William Mercer and Cathy McDaniel, Karen and 
Ben Merchant, and Janis and Chet Stasiak; three grandchildren, Jennifer Marden, 
Kristin VanVliet and Matt Dehring, William Linton and Krystal Parks; great 
grandchildren, Tristan and Brecklyn; one brother John and Doris Snyder; and 
several nieces and nephews and extended family. 

The celebration of Jean’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at 
Crystal Congregational Church. To honor Jean we are requesting that you wear 
colorful clothing. In lieu of flowers we request that donations be made to 
Masonic Pathways- Alma, your local Humane Society or books to your local 
library. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux and Schnepp 
Funeral Home, Crystal.
