Mrs. Merkel had been visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James K. Nichols for the past two days and became ill there Wednesday afternoon. It was believed she might have suffered a cerebral hemorrhage. Mrs. Merkel was born in Easton township December 24, 1887, and attended Ionia and Belding schools. in 1906 she was married to Frank Treynor. She was married to Charles Merkel in 1922 and they were later divorced. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert Antcliff of rural route 4, Mason and Mrs. Millard Smith, of New York city; two sons, Edward Treynor of Belding rural route 2 and George Treynor, of 404 East Ellis street, Belding; and five grandchildren. Two brothers also survive. They are Frank Rowley of Belding, and Orson Rowley of Woodard lake. Funeral services are to be held from the Bradley funeral home in Ionia Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment at Woodard lake cemetery.
