Ionia Sentinel Standard, 23 May 1944

Mrs. Florence Merkel, 34, wife of Karl Merkle of Ionia, died early Monday morning at
the University of Michigan hospital after a long illness.  She was born in Grand
Rapids, October 15, 1909 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kasnia.

September 28, 1934, she was married to Karl Merkle and couple made their home in
Ronald.  Surviving are her husband, Karl; a son, John, 8, and a daughter, Ann
Pauline, 6; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kasnia of Grand Rapids and several
brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 9 o’clock in the Sacred Heart
church of Grand Rapids.  Burial will be in Grand Rapids.
