Merriett, widow of the late Edson T. Merriett, died in Ford hospital, Detroit, Sunday morning, following a three weeks’ illness and the rupture of the gall bladder. The body was brought to the Boynton funeral chapel where services will be conducted by Rev. Willard K. Spencer, D.D., Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. Burial will be in Highland Park cemetery. Mrs. Merriett was born in Middlegove, Saratogo County, N.Y. in 1852. She lived there until her marriage and then Mr. and Mrs. Merriett came to Ionia. He was identified with the business interests along Main street for over 40 years prior to his death eight years ago. Mrs. Merriett had been a resident of Ionia for 50 years. For a time Mr. Merriett was associated with N. J. Spaulding in the implement business and was secretary-treasurer of the Ionia Water Power and Electric Company which had the electric plant at the Wager dam. She leaves a daughters, Mrs. Gardia Merriett-Russell, of Michigan City, Ind., a son, Ralph E. of Detroit; three grandsons, Edson G. and Clarence D., the sons of a deceased son, Clarence, who died three years ago, and Arthur L. Merriett, of Michigan City, Ind.
