Lake Odessa Wave, 6 Feb 1925

Mrs. W. W. Merrifield died at the home of her son Robert in Sebewa township 
Wednesday.  She came there about three weeks previously, having spent the early 
part of the winter with a daughter near Charlotte.  Funeral services were held 
Monday afternoon at the house and burial was in the Mulliken cemetery.

Mr. Merrifield, better known as “Dick” died in Portland two years ago last June 
and the widow continued to make this place her home until last fall.  Since 
then she has resided with her children.

Her maiden name was Sarah McDowell and she was born in Vermont July 1, 1852.  
Her marriage to Mr. Merrifield occurred in 1871.  The couple resided in Danby 
and Sebewa, going to Portland about 20 years ago.

Surviving children are Mrs. Edith Hoffman, Eagle; Mrs. Minnie Marvin, 
Charlotte; William, Robert and Ward Merrifield, Sebewa; Warren Merrifield, Los 
Angeles. Mrs. Helen Showerman, a sister-in-law, of this place attended the 
funeral.
