          MRS. JAY MERRILL DIED CHRISTMAS DAY
                                      -----------
   FUNERAL AT WORTLEY AND BAINE FUNERAL HOME, 
REV. E. H. HUMPHREY OFFICIATING; BURIAL AT LAKESIDE.
                                     -------------
   Mrs. Jay Merrill who lived at her farm home east of Lake Odessa for many years
died at the home of her 
daughter Mrs. Lena Follett in Lansing, Christmas day, after a brief illness of acute
indigestion.
   Mrs. Merrill had lived alone most of the time since her husband's death eight
years ago, with the help of a 
hired man, but occasionally visited the daughter in Lansing.
   Besides this daughter she leaves a son Glenn Merrill and a daughter Mrs. Ambia
Nevins and grandchildren 
in California.  There are also two grandsons, sons of Vern Merill, in Pennsylvania,
Vern dying several years 
ago.
   The funeral was held at the Wortley & Baine funeral home and burial was at
Lakeside cemetery.
