Henrietta Katherine Merritt, aged 79, of Saranac, passed away April 4, 2007. 
She was born June 18, 1927 in Battle Creek the daughter of Adrian and Euginia 
Lipps.  She married Dyarl C. Merritt June 1, 1947 in Battle Creek, MI. He 
preceded her in death November 13, 2003.

Henrietta is survived by her daughters Katherine Suzan (Sue) Ferguson and 
Debby Lynn Merritt. Son in law Douglas L. Ferguson and her loving grandpup 
Yoopie.

Henrietta was very special to many in Saranac, she not only raised her two 
daughters but also was there for so many others that were in need of a 
listening ear, or some teenage advise. She loved all the kids and just wanted 
to help them whenever she could.  The people is what she missed most after she 
retired from their family business of 50 years in 2006, best known locally as 
Dyarl and Henrietta's Recreation established in 1956.  She worked at Kellogg's 
plant in Battle Creek during WWII. Also volunteered at the VA Hospital in 
Battle Creek.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Bill, 
Chuck, Jim and June.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday 11 a.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in 
Saranac with Mr. Virgil Biggs officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. 
Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Friday 6 to 9 p.m. Anyone wishing may 
make memorial contributions to Boston - Saranac Historical Society or Saranac 
Community Fire Department.
