Funeral services for Guy A. Messacar, 47, will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 from the home at 427 Pleasant street. Mr. Messacar died in Hurley hospital, Flint, at 6 o’clock Sunday morning from injuries received in an automobile accident at 1 p.m. Sunday morning near the west city limits of Flint. According to reports received in Ionia, Mr. Messacar, a tool and die maker for the Buick Motor company of Flint, finished his work there Saturday night at 11 o’clock, and was en route home when the accident occurred. His car was hit at the Miller and Linden roads by one driven by Willard Decker, 23, of Flint, driving on a stop street. Messacar was taken to the Flint hospital where he succumbed to the injuries at 6 a.m. Ionia relatives said Monday that Mr. Messacar usually has waited until Sunday morning to make the trip to Ionia because he dreaded the hazardous driving conditions on the outskirts of Flint at that time of night. He had planned to attend an alumni picnic of his boyhood school Sunday near Greenville. Mr. Messacar, who had been employed in Flint for the past five years, was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1890. He came to the United States when two years of age and has been a resident of Ionia for 20 years. He was employed here for many years at the Hayes Body corporation where he worked as a tool and die maker. Besides his wife Bessie, he is survived by one son, Guy, Jr., 17; his father, Alex Messacar, St. Thomas, Canada, and several brothers and sisters in Canada. Dr. Paul L. Stewart and Rev. C. A. Brady will be in charge of the services at the home Wednesday. Burial will be at Balcom cemetery.
