Mrs. Messer was born in Lowell, February 27, 1912, the daughter of John and Izene Bergin Arehart. She attended schools in Lowell, graduated from Marywood Academy in Grand Rapids and attended Cleary Business College in Ypsilanti. She was employed in the office of Runciman Milling company in Lowell, at Universal Metal company in Saranac, and for many years in the business office at Ionia state hospital. She retired in 1972 and moved to her home on Chippewa Lake near Big Rapids. She married Phlara Messer in May, 1955. He preceded her in death August 24, 1966. She was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic church in Ionia. Survivors include two brothers, George of Lowell and William of Michawaka, Indiana; three nephews and one niece. Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at the SS Peter and Paul church with the Rev. Father Edward S. Orlowski officiating. Burial is in Lyons cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the Leddick funeral home in Ionia.
