Ionia Sentinel Standard, 19 Mar 1955

Mrs. Theresa A. Messer, 76, 211  South Jefferson street, died at the Gates 
Convalescent Home at Lyons Saturday morning at six o’clock.  She had been a 
patient there for a year.

Mrs. Messer was born in Fowler, December 25, 1878, the daughter of Nicholas and 
Mary Miller.  She was married to Lenow Messer, February 24, 1897, and he 
preceded her in death, July 27, 1938.  She had lived in Ionia 40 years. 

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Wesley Sprague of Lyons; one son, Phlara, of 
Ionia; four brothers, Matt and Frank Miller of Pewamo, Albert Miller of 
Clarksville, and Herman Miller; one sister, Mrs. Anna Converse of Grant Park, 
Illinois; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  One daughter Lillian 
preceded her in death, November 1935.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Myers 
funeral home.  The Rev. Mr. Watt of Lyons will officiate.  Burial will be at 
Lyons cemetery.
