He was stricken while kindling the fire at his home Sunday morning at six o’clock. He retained consciousness intermittently until late Sunday afternoon when he lapsed into a state of coma, breathing his last at 1:20 a.m. Missouri Messer, son of Michael and Lydia Messer, was born in Salsbury township, Lehigh county, Pennsylvania, September 20th, 1852, and died at his home in Lyons, December 13th 1921, aged 69 years, 2 months, 28 days. He came to Michigan in 1865 and was married April 5th, 1877, to Miss May Alexander. To this union seven children were born, four of whom survive: Orvis Messer of Lyons, Mrs. Lydia Wicks of Lebanon, Mrs. Maggie Tate of Maple Rapids and Mrs. Ruby Roberts of Delta, Colorado. He is also survived by his widow and fourteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church of Lyons at 11 o’clock Friday. Interment will be made in the family lot at East Plains cemetery. Rev. Vincent C. Webb will officiate at the funeral services.
