The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Tuesday, September 15, 1942


Samuel Messer, 68, of Muir, died Monday evening at the University of Michigan 
hospital in Ann Arbor.  He had been a patient there for the past four weeks.

Samuel Messer was born in Ionia county and had been employed at the Hayes Body 
corporation in Ionia for many years.  Nearly 18 years ago he moved to Muir 
where he did carpenter work.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, a son, Elton, of Lyons.  He was a member of 
the Ionia Moose lodge.  

Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from the Myers 
funeral home.  Rev. George Woolcock of the First Baptist church will officiate 
and burial will be in North Plains cemetery.
