Ionia Daily Standard, 1 Jun 1891

Frank Metz, the 8-yr. old son of Geo. Metz, of Berlin, was drowned in Sessions’ 
creek, Saturday afternoon.  The boy had been in the habit of going to the creek 
every Saturday for a bath.  When Mr. Metz returned home, after attending memorial 
exercises here, the boy had not returned.  Search being made, his body was found 
in the creek.  He had apparently stepped off in a hole, and no help being near, 
he was unable to get out.
