He was in the sapbush, where the men were at work, and attempted to ladle up the boiling sap in the pan, as he had seen the men do, when he lost his balance and fell head down in the pan. He was drawn out as quickly as possible, but he was immersed long enough to cause terrible burns on the breast and face. Dr. Ogden was summoned, and rendered such aid as possible, but all to no avail. The child lay in a stupor until death came to its relief at 2:30 in afternoon.
