The last two weeks of his illness he has been paralyzed. Mr. Metzger was born in Woodland, Barry county, and was reared in that community. Forty years ago October 24, 1928 he was united in marriage to Miss Clara Stuart, who with five children Carl, of Grand Rapids, Paul and Bruce, at home, Mrs. Robert Weisgerber, of Orange and Mrs. Charles Mulholland of Arlington, S.D., survive him. He also leaves a brother Henry, of Lake Odessa, and six grandchildren. Mr. Metzger has lived in Easton township for 25 years, and has taken an active part in the religious and civic affairs of the community, and has served in the Methodist denomination several years as a trustee of the church. Although not well last fall he sent forty every effort in assisting in the establishment of the new Easton church, and saw it completed and dedicated. The funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and will be in charge of his pastor, Rev. Dwight Reed. The burial will be in the Easton cemetery.
