Bruce A. Metzger, 83, of 3780 Sales Rd. died Tuesday at the Ionia County
Memorial Hospital.  He was born June 29, 1897 in Sunfield, the son of John and
Cora Stuart Metzger.  He was married Aug. 24, 1966 to Shirley Thomas.  He farmed
and operated a riding stable in Easton Township for many years.  He attended the
Easton United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two stepsons, Robert Banhagel of Holly and
James Banhagel of Ionia; two sisters, Virginia Weisgerber of Ionia and Vera
Carlson of Arlington, S.D.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Myers-Roetman Funeral
Home with the Rev. H.H. Callahan officiating.  Burial will be in Easton
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. to
greet friends and relatives.  A memorial has been established for the Ionia
County Library and may be left at the funeral home.
