DOD: 27 December 1930 Lake Odessa Wave – Thursday, 1 January 1931 After a year of patient suffering Jacob M. Meyers passed away at his home last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Meyers came to Lake Odessa in 1925 and have made many friends here especially in church circles where they entered in a quiet but most faithful way. He was a member of the Men’s Bible class of Central Methodist Church and enjoyed it and all the services as long as he was able. Lake Odessa has lost a splendid citizen. Jacob H. Meyers, whose father was a minister of the United Brethren church, was born in Clinton County on February 21, 1859, and departed this life at his house in Lake Odessa on the 2th day of December, 1930, at the age of 71 years, seven months and six days. His boyhood days were spent at Woodland and South Boston. He was married to Miss Lodemn Dillenbeck on April 10, 1881. To Mr. and Mrs. Meyers were born two children, Ethel, now Mrs. Theodore Gosch of Battle Creek, and Beulah, now Mrs. Alton Nye of Lake Odessa. Mr. Meyers spent most of his married life in South Boston and vicinity. In 1926 they came to Lake Odessa from Lowell where they have since made their home. Besides the two daughters named above Mr. Meyers is survived by his devoted wife, one sister Mrs. Sophia Davis of Flint and five grandchildren. Mr. Meyers was a good man and a true Christian. He was very quiet and unassuming and faithful to all the demands of life. He was a member of Central Methodist church where he was held in loving esteem by all. Servant of God, well done, The glorious warfare past. The battles fought, the victory won And thou art crowned at last. The funeral was held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. O. F. Bulman, his pastor, giving the address. His old schoolmates of South Boston acted as pallbearers and burial was in the South Boston Cemetery.
