Meyers, 55, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Portland, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2002. Maureen was born in Portland, March 31, 1947, the daughter of Bernard and Virginia (Fedewa) Meyers. She graduated from St. Patrick’s in Portland in 1965, then went on to nursing school and graduated from St. Mary’s Mercy School of Nursing. She was a nurse for 35 years working at St. Mary’s Hospital, Droste Ferguson Hospital, Dr. Matternowski’s office and Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. She then moved to Ann Arbor and worked at the University of Michigan Hospital. Maureen eventually moved to North Carolina and worked at Moses Cohn Hospital for two and half years in Greensboro, NC. She enjoyed sporting events, going to Gilda’s House in Grand Rapids, traveling, and loved to spend time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Bernard and brother, Bobby. She is survived by mother, Virginia Meyers of Portland; brothers, Ron (Linda) of Lyons, Mike (Linda) of Portland, Gary and friend Bernie of Portland, Dave of Aurora, Colo., Kevin (Teresa) of Grand Rapids, and Dennis of St. Claire Shores; sisters, Susan (George) Scarbrough of Reed City, and Diane (Gordy) Fawley of Ponderay, Idaho; 17 nieces and nephews; three great nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Charles D. Hall, Pastor Aug. 30 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland with inurnment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Westphalia. Arrangements were handled by Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. She fought a courageous three year battle with cancer, and died at Hospice Home of Hope in Cutlerville.
