Meyers, 76, of Lyons, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 1995 at the Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born the son of Edwin and Lillian (Yeomans) Meyers on Aug. 17, 1919 in Sheridan. He attended Lyons High School. He served 4 ½ years in the U.S. Army during World War II, when he was wounded in the Philippines. He married Lucille Otto on Oct. 19, 1945 at the LeValley United Methodist Church in Ionia. He worked for 34 years for the Ionia County Road Commission, retiring in 1981. He was a life member of both the Lyons V.F.W. and the Ionia Elks, #548. He is survived by his wife Lucille; three sons: Richard Chambers of North Carolina, Dennis (Becky) Chambers of Arkansas, and Boyd (Barb) Meyers of Lyons; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Lewis (Wanda) Meyers of Crystal; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Edwin (Spike), three sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be in Tuttle Cemetery. Military Graveside Services will be held under the auspices of the Lyons V.F.W. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
