Feb. 17,2018 Lucille Mae Meyers Sunfield, MI - Lucille Mae (Heintzleman) Meyers, age 92 of Sunfield, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus on February 14, 2018. She was born May 31, 1925 in Hawthorne, Wisc., the daughter of Walter and Hannah (Halvorson) Heintzleman. She grew up in Bowman, ND. moving to Lake Odessa in 1939 and graduating from Lake Odessa High School in 1943. On June 7, 1946 she married Wesley Meyers shortly after he returned from his service in the Navy. They lived in the lake Odessa and Sunfield area their entire lives. Wesley preceded her in death, on December 22, 2010 after 64 years together. Their children include Linda (Phil) DeVries of Ludington, Duane (Buffy) Meyers of Sunfield, Debrah (Ed) Smith of Lake Odessa, Wesley Jr. (Connie) Meyers of Lake Odessa and Annette (Ron) Thompson of Indian River. Lucy had 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by sister-in-law, Joanne Heintzleman and Ardell Ward and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was an infant son, Darrell Meyers as well as siblings, Velma Heintzleman, Alvin (Maxine) Heintzleman, William (Josephine) Heintzleman, Marcella (Wilbur) Gierman, Betty (Joseph) Hasman, and Raymond (Joanne) Heintzleman; half- sisters, Lillian McCullum, Edith Edwins, Ethel Grover and half-brothers, Charles Heintzleman, Harold (Masinr) Meyers, Howard (Leona) Meyers, Eleanor (Al) Allen and Richard (Ardell) Ward. Lucy worked at factories in Ionia and Lansing during the war, then at the Lake Odessa canning Company, Tasker's Orchard and the Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons. She was a long-time member of the Sebewa Center United Methodist Church, the Ladies Aid Society and the neighborhood Birthday Club. Lucy always had a smile and a kind word for everyone; she loved the Lord and you could tell. She adored spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was always available to babysit, whether it was close by or included making a trip to Ludington or Mackinac Island. She loved cooking and getting together for big family meals. She worked tirelessly for her church and enjoyed baking pies for their monthly fund raiser suppers. She loved singing hymns a Capella and was known for just bursting into joyful song, sometimes when those around her least expected it. She enjoyed baking, traveling, growing flowers and vegetables in her garden and canning. She loved to keep in touch with family and friends by phone or email. Lucille was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family.
