September 4, 2021 Marshall Ray Meyers Marshall Ray "Moose" Meyers went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, Aug, 27, 2021 suddenly and peacefully after his big, tender heart could no longer sustain him. He was born January 10, 1938 to Floyd and Gaylia (Klahn) Meyers from Woodland. He was the third of four children and first born son to them, and later the middle child when his father passed and Gaylia married Charles Brooks and had a fifth. As he worked most of his childhood for various farmers, Moose became his nickname and remained his name the rest of his life. Moose got his entire education from Woodland School, graduating in 1956. He was not a big fan of school, but his classmates and teammates would become close like family and very dear to him. Moose loved to play football, basketball, baseball and later fast pitch softball and being in various clubs in school. After school, he and his buddies would hang out at classic's Drugstore in Woodland to share a cherry-cola fountain soda. Because of his working on farms, Moose became very mechanical and as a teenager started working for Chuck Mulligan at his service station. Chuck became his mentor and father figure for those teenage years. Since pickings were getting slim in Woodland, he ventured to lake Odessa in 1954 and cruised around until h found Madeline Hunt. When she finally quit running, they started double dating and had some classic 50s fun with his best friend and lifelong buddy Larry Bird. Two weeks after graduation, he and Madeline married June 16, 1956 and started their life together. He started his own service station in Woodland briefly. He then traveled to Lake Odessa, Charlotte (Where he worked for Wagner Loucks), Potterville, Vermontville and finally settling back in Woodland in 1976. Moose started working for General Motors, Fisher Body division on 1968 where he would retire with his 30 years in 1997 because he never used his vacation time that accumulated up. He truly was not a traveler and stayed close to home enjoying pony and draft horse pulling, playing cards with friends and bowling. His bowling career for Kent Oil and the "Lake" Boys landed him two 300 games which were very proud moments for him. This past June, Moose and Maddie were able to celebrate 65 year together along with their children; Rodger Duane and his three sons Jason (Kate), Justina and Joel, Steven Floyd (Karlye) and his four children Steven (Tanya) James (Candace) Garth (Destinee), and Kristen (Deon).Timothy Ray (Julie), Michael John, Jeffrey Lynn (Julie) and their sons Nathan (Lillian) and Caeleb, his legacy includes 14 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his wife and children, his sister Marjory Rairigh, brothers; Marlin (Margaret) Meyer, Ken Brooks along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, infant son James LaVern, sister, Mary McHenry. Brothers-in-law Bill McHenry, Vivian Rairigh, Elwin Hunt, and Richard Strong. Sister-in-law Barbara Strong and Doris Hunt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to woodland Fire Department and Rescue or Kilpatrick United Brethren Church. Visitation will be held at the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church in Woodland on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021 from 5 until 8 p.m..
