February 6, 1904 REV. MEYERS DEAD Old Pioneer Dies at His Home, Northeast of Town Rev.Daniel Meyers who has been ill with heart disease and dropsy since the first of October, died at is home east of the village and south of Lakeside cemetery, last Thursday morning. The funeral was held at the U.B.Church Woodbury Saturday forenoon, Rev. Mourer of Freeport officiating, the remains being brought back to Lakeside cemetery for interment. Rev. Meyers was born in Pennsylvania about 74 years ago and was married to Amy Miller in Seneca Co., Ohio, in 1851. To this union there were born eight children, seven of whom still live to mourn his death; Albert of Sebews; Jennie Sturgis of Saranac; A.J., Alice Barber and Emma Colton of Nashville; Carrie Neff of Bellevue and Walter of this place. After the death of his first wife he was married to Mrs.Elizabeth White and to them we born two children, Cyrus and Otis who have lived at home and are well known here. Mr.Meyers entered the ministry when thirty years of age and has followed this calling as a minister of the Radical U.B.Church until his age and poor health made it necessary fore him to retire from his profession and spend his declining years in comfort and quiet. His long life in this part of the country has gained for him a large circle of dear friends who will regret to hear that he is gone. In all his life he has been a lightly respected and religious man and one worthy of the promised reward. The community at large sympathize with the bereaved who it seems, have of late had more than their share of trouble Additional Comments: Lakeside Cem.# 5-652 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/m/meyers44429nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
