St. Paul Journal, St. Paul, Neosho Co., KS. Thurs. July 18, 1907
James V. Mickel, an aged veteran who has been making his home with his sister, 
Mrs. Homer Brown, died this morning.  He was born in Crawford County, Penn., 
in 1839.  He enlisted in Co., C., 91st Illinois Infantry August 11, 1862 and 
served until July 12, 1865, when he was mustered out at Springfield, Ill.  He 
received injuries during the war which in after years necessitated the 
amputation of a leg.  He came here from Grand Rapids, Michigan, last year, but 
has been in feeble health since coming.  He has five children residing in the 
state of Michigan.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow.  The bereaved relatives have the 
sympathy of all.
