June, 26, 1924 LAKE ODESSA WOMAN KILLED, SON INJURED Mrs. Abe Middaugh Victim of p.m. Train Tuesday Evening. INJURED SON RUSHED TO GRAND RAPIDS HOSPITAL Accident Occurred At Cemetery Crossing As Party Was Returning From Woodland Mrs. Abe Middaugh, a middle aged woman of Lake Odessa, was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock at what is known as Cemetery crossing just outside of Lake Odessa, and her son Harlan, just in his teens, was so severely injured that he was rushed to Butterworth hospital at Grand Rapids, when they were struck by a west-bound train on the Pere Marquette. The mother and son were returning from Woodland to their home in the outskirts of Lake Odessa. The car was reduced to wreckage. Mr. and Middaugh have lived in the vicinity of Lake Odessa the most of their lives. Mr. Middaugh is associated with the Farmers’ elevator. Mrs. Middaugh is active in the United Brethren Church, and is survived by a married daughter, living near Grand Ledge, and a son 18, who is home.
