Large Circle of Friends. One of Sunfield-Woodbury elderly ladies, Mrs.Helen Sholtus Middaugh passed away at her home in Sunfield township last Wednesday, January 18th at the age of eighty years. She had lived in her home near Woodbury practically all her life, and has spent a life of service to her family and others as well. She leaves many to mourn their lost including children, grand-children and a large circle of friends, as testified by the loving tributes paid to her. OBITUARY Helen E.Sholtus, daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Sholtus, was born in the state of New York, September 6th, 1847. When three years of age she came with her parents to Michigan and settled in Sunfield township were she has lived ever since. On April 29th, 1866, she was united in marriage to Martin Middaugh, a Civil War veteran of Sunfield township, who preceded her to the Great Beyond on October 26, 1907. They settled on the farm one half mile north and one mile east of Woodbury, where they lived for twenty-seven years. To this union were born seven children, six sons and one daughter. A son, Charles, and the daughter dying in infancy. In 1893 she moved with her husband to Woodbury, and settled in the home where she passed to the life beyond, January 18th, 1928, age 80 years, 4 months and 12 days. She leaves to mourn their loss five sons, Adelbert, Orley D, Edward A., Abraham and James R., also a sister, Mrs.Maggie Harris of Moline, Kansas, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many friends. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and a helpful neighbor, rendering service when ever and where ever service was needed. She will be greatly missed by her friends and neighbors. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain. We wish to thank our friends and neighbors for their sympathy, help and kindness during the sickness and death of our beloved mother, to Rev.Hoffman for his comforting words, to the male choir for the singing and to the following named organizations and societies for the beautiful flowers.
