Middleton, 98, of Fenwick, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at her home with family by her side. Helen was born May 14, 1914, in Bushnell Township, the daughter of Crystal and Elsie (Reeder) Lutz. She married Wayne Middleton on May 14, 1938, in Lakeview. Helen’s first career was a school teacher in country schools, when her children were born she stayed home to raise them and when they were grown she worked as a juvenile probation officer. She was a member of the OES and Vickeryville United Methodist Church where she was a former Bible School teacher. Helen was a Girl Scout leader for her daughters. Helen was a founding member for the DARE program and the We Care for Kids Council. She is survived by three daughters, Kriss Robke of Owatonna, Minn., Kenna (Jim) Gibson of Mankato, Minn., Wayla (Dennis) McMillan of Sand Lake; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two nieces and three nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister and a brother. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at the Lux and Schnepp funeral Home, Carson City. Interment will be in Palo Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vickeryville United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Big Brothers Big Sisters.
