Mikek, 82, of Belding, passed away Friday evening, Feb. 25, 2005, at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus, Grand Rapids. He was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Wheeler, the son of Andrew and Anna Tomanovich Mikek. Frank was married on Nov. 20, 1948, in Merrill, to Doris E. Schrumm. For several years he and Doris owned and operated Mikek’s Market in Perry. He later worked and retired from Michigan State University, serving in the maintenance department. Following his retirement, he and Doris moved to Florida, living there 14 years. They had made their home in Belding since 2002. Frank was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Sophie, Jean, Anna; brothers, Steve, Hank, George, John; and grandson, Eddie. Frank is survived by his wife, Doris; their children, Edward and Jan Mikek of Belding, Cathy Fields and Jerry of Lansing, Andrew and Sarah Mikek of Midvale, Idaho; eight grandchildren, Scott, Tiffany, Danny, Jennifer, Chuck, Anna, Jake, Savannah; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Beth, Sydney, Isabel; sisters and brother, Mary Lenhart of Montrose, Rose Shay of California, Tom and Elsie Mikek of Hemlock, Alice and Jon Tomancik of Florida; and sister-in-law, Rose Mikek of St. Louis, Mich. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding, with Father CK presiding. Interment is in St. Joseph Cemetery, Belding. Visitation is 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today with a rosary prayed at 8 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at church.
