Millard, of Belding, a veteran of the Civil war and widely known throughout this section of Michigan, died Wednesday at the Soldiers’ home. Dr. Millard had been a lifelong resident of Belding and had served throughout the Civil war from there, returning after the conflict, and settling again in the community. He was 88 years old. His wife died about six months ago. After her death he chose to continue living at the Soldiers’ home where he could be and chat with “the boys” and live again the days of the conflict between the North and the South. He is survived by two sons, Fred Millard, of Belding and Frank Millard, whose home is in Hartford, Conn. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the son’s home here, and burial of this grand old veteran will be in River Ridge cemetery. Rev. H. E. Ellis of the Congregational church at Belding, will officiate at the funeral services.
