All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sandy Heintzelman sheintz@iserv.net August 25, 2019, 1:01 pm Ionia County News, 7 Feb 1929 Mrs. Alma Millard Funeral Services Held at Pewamo Daughter of Pioneer Parents Buried Sunday; Survived By Daughter, Son Funeral services were held Sunday for Mrs. Alma Millard, at her home in Pewamo, marked the passing of one of the beloved women of the community and one who leaves as an ever living memorial a record of faithfulness to the church, to her family and friends and to the fraternal groups with which she was affiliated. Mrs. Millard was born May 4, 1862 in Westphalia, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James McVeigh Westphalia pioneers. In 1881 she was united in marriage to Lorenzo Millard who preceded her in death, his death occuring in August 1914. To this union there were born three children, a son Cecil L. Millard, Lansing, a daughter, Mrs. George Arnold, 453 Jones street, Ionia, at whose home she died, and a daughter Pearl M. Stedman who passed away May 4, 1914. Mrs. Millard was a member of the old Baptist church of Pewamo until it was disbanded some ten years ago. She also was a member of the Degree of Honor and the Order of Eastern Star in which she was a loyal worker. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Herbert G. Hurrell of the Ionia Church of Christ. Burial was in East Plains cemetery.
