Miller, 84, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002. He was born on May 17, 1918 in Belding, the son of Harry Lee and Eva Mae (Lytle) Miller. Miller worked for Mitchell Bentley for many years before retiring in 1965 to run his farm until his passing. In high school, he held 10 state records in track that were never broken and also came in second to Jessie Owens at the Regionals in Chicago. He was a lifetime member of the Holstein Association and was an avid hunter and dog lover. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethelyn M. Miller; son, William Miller; granddaughter, Kimberly Miller; great-grandson, Gage Fleisher. Surviving are his children, Christina (Michael) Fleisher of Fenwick and Ira Gene (Carolyn) Miller of Tempe, Ariz.; six grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; best friend and dog, Skippy. Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of Elmer W. Miller.
