Ionia Sentinel Standard, 2002

Thelma C. Miller, 92, of Ionia passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002, at Ionia 
County Memorial Hospital

She was born May 22, 1909 in Chester Township, the daughter of Millard and 
Nettie (Thatcher) Hicks.  She married George Miller Jan. 1, 1937 in Ionia.  He 
preceded her in death in 1959.  She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church 
in Belding, former member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Ionia, she was a 
member of the South Ionia Friendship Club, the Music Teacher Association and a 
volunteer with the Girl Scouts as a pack leader.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Miller of Ionia; one sister, Dorothy 
(Donald) Anderson of Cadillac: two sisters-in-law, Elsie Hicks of Detroit and 
Frances Hicks of Pontiac; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and 
Lawrence.

Funeral services for Mrs. Miller will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday at the Lake 
Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Joe Fremer officiating.  Visitation will be 
from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral 
home.    Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions to charity of their 
choice.
