Ionia County News, 6 Jan 1938

Mrs. Maria Sophia Miller died Saturday, January 1, at the home of her daughter, 
Mrs. Frank Lemke, of Grand Rapids, following a four weeks illness.

She was born in Stettin-Anklan, Pommern, a northern province of Germany, 
October 5, 1850.  In April, 1880, she came to the United States, and married 
Ludwig Miller of Ionia, in 1881.  Mr. Miller died in 1899.  She lived in Ionia 
until 1915, when she moved to Grand Rapids.

She is survived by three children, William C. Miller, of Ionia; Mrs. Frank 
Lemke, of Grand Rapids, and Mrs. Frank Miller of Detroit; 11 grandchildren and 
two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from St. Johns Lutheran church.  
Rev. H. P. Dorn of Grand conducted the funeral services.  A prayer service at 
two o’clock, conducted by Rev. R. A. Rook, preceded the funeral.
