O. Miller, 85, died in Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, Tuesday, November 26. She had been in ill health for several months and in October submitted to a major operation. Josephine Theresa Anderson, daughter of Alexander and Marcy Anderson, was born in Ionia township, August 3, 1855, on the section of Ionia county land settled by her parents in 1832 when they came to Michigan from German Flats, Herkimer county, New York. In 1887 she was united in marriage with Covert O. Miller of Ridgeway, Lenawee county, Michigan. For the first years of their married life they lived in Detroit, later returning to Ionia county where they lived in Lyons and then moved to Muir, which was Mrs. Miller’s home at the time of her death. She was deeply interested in her church and had been a member of the Church of Christ since 1888. A teacher in the Sunday school., she taught her class in Muir the Sunday before she entered the hospital. She was a member of Evergreen chapter, O.E.S., of Lyons. Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Ione Faulkner, Ionia; an adopted son, William O. Miller, of Washington, D.C., who had been at her bedside constantly the past week; a niece, Mrs. Beatrice A. Smith of Lyons; a half brother, Edward Nolty of Lyons, and other nieces and nephews. Mr. Miller died about six years ago. Mrs. Miller was a sister of the late James D. Anderson of Muir and Archie Anderson of Ionia. Funeral service will be held from the Muir Church of Christ Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock Rev. Kilgour of Grand Rapids will conduct the service, assisted by Rev. Paul L. Stewart of Ionia. Music will be by Mrs. Ray Colwell and Mrs. Thane Benedict, Sr. Pall bearers will be Judson Banning, Coral Estep, L.C. Dawes, Frank Burtraw, Otto Ulrich and George McGillivray.
