Jim was born in Mulliken to Carl and Lenna (Perrin) Miller on August 15, 1935. He attended the Moyer School and went on to graduate from Charlotte High School. Jim had spent a number of years farming and working odd jobs in the winter, and had retired from the Michigan Department of Public Health. He enjoyed cutting wood in the winter, and during the summer could be found working in his large garden and doing yard work. Jim was united in marriage to Irene Hodge on November 22, 1969 in Portland. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl Miller, Jr. Earnest Miller and Lawrence Miller; and sisters, Emily Jeanette Murphy and Patricia Pinch. He is survived by Irene, his loving wife of 37 years; his children, Chris and Julinda Miller of Ellerslie, Ga., Tim and Darlene Miller of Portland; grandsons, Aidan, Bailey and Chase; and his special dog, Skipper whom he loved so much. Also surviving are his brothers and sister, Everett and Floris Miller, Richard and Kathleen Miller, and Betty Jackson; sister-in-law, Agnes Furr; mother-in-law, Geraldine Hodge; his loving in-laws in the Hodge family, Gary and Barb Hodge family, Gary and Barb Hodge, William and Sharon Hodge, Robert Hodge, Ronald and Susan Hodge, Michael and Sherry Hodge, Connie and Chuck Carr, Linda and Douglas Brown, and Jane and Keith Pline; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass was celebrated March 15 at the St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lake Odessa. The Rite of Committal was held at Woodland Memorial Park. Arrangements were entrusted to the Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church or Barry Community Hospice.
