Dora Mary Charity Miller of Ionia, age 87, passed away Oct. 27, 2013, in 
Ionia.  She was born April 11, 1926, in Ionia, the daughter of August and 
Gertrude (Darling) Zander.  Dora married George Steward, who died about 1948, 
and Donald Miller in 1956.  He preceded her in death in 1991.  

She also ran the switchboard at Michigan Bell.  She later worked at the 
Chrysler plant in Lyons and then for Chrysler in Detroit.  Dora was a member of 
St. Johns Lutheran Church of Ionia.  She loved to sew and read Louis L'Amour 
books.  She lived in Ralph, Mich., and Mesa, Ariz., among other places. 

Dora is survived by her brothers, Gene (Bea) Zander of Lyons and Bob Zander of 
Ionia and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was 
preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Laurence, and five sisters, 
Agnes, Laura, twin sister Doris, Cynthia and Gertrude.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, at St. 
Johns Lutheran Church of Ionia with Pastor Richard Laeder officiating.  
Interment will be in North Plains Cemetery.  Arrangements by Lake Funeral Home 
of Ionia.  Anyone wishing, may make memorial contributions in Dora's name to 
St. Johns Lutheran Church.
