Portland Review - Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004

Elaine Marie Miller 60, of Crystal, formerly of Portland, passed away Aug. 
31, 2004.

She was born in Lansing June 11, 1944, the daughter of Elgin and Mabel  
(Koelzer) Smith. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in 
Portland as well as St. Mary's in Carson City. She was active with the 
American Cancer Society (Relay for Life), was a member of the Portland Fire 
Department Women's Auxiliary and volunteered at Ionia Area Hospice. Elaine 
enjoyed sewing, crocheting and playing cards.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, James P. Miller of Crystal; children, 
David Miller of Grand Rapids, Sandy (Ross) Decker of Portland, Daniel 
(Norma) Miller of Portland, Susan (Dan) Humphreys of Portland and James II 
(Rock Kauffman) of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Amber, Adam, Steven, Keith, 
Danna and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Trenten and Tia, mother, Mabel 
smith; siblings, Ken (Marie) Smith, Steve (Debbie) Smith, Doug (Connie) 
Smith, Kathy (Don) Russman, Annette (John) Pohl and Darrell Smith; nine 
brother and sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Sept. 4 at St. Patrick Catholic 
Church, Portland with Rev. Larry King, Pastor presiding. Rite of Committal 
followed at Portland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Schrauben-
Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. On line condolences may be made at

Society or to the Fr. Flohe Foundation.
