All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Patricia Currigan currigan1932@comcast.net October 31, 2021, 6:37 pm Lake Odessa Wave-Friday March 9, 1906 Fredrick Miller was born April 26, 1838 in Munchingen, Wurttemburg, Germany and died at his home near Woodbury March 3, 1906, age 67 years 10 months, 7 days, Mr. Miller's health has been failing for some time and for the past two years he has been confined to the house much of the time and for about four weeks had been unable to leave the bed. All that medical aid could do, was done for him but it was of no avail, the immediate cause of his death being heart failure. Mr Miller came to Michigan in 1861 entering the Army as a volunteer at Marshall, Michigan December 1862. He was a member of company E Eighth Regiment of Michigan Cavalry where in he served until he was honorably discharged from the service of the United States Sept. 22, 1865. At the age of thirty years he was united in marriage to Miss Christina Winter of Caledonia and to them six children were born, four sons and two daughters. They together with the mother and one sister deeply mourn his loss. Mr Miller was the youngest of six children, Mrs Bayha of Woodland being the only member of the family remaining. The deceased was a member of the G.A.R. at Sunfield where he will be greatly missed by his Comrads and many friends in his home and vicinity. The funeral which was largely attended was held Tuesday from the Evangelical church, Woodbury. Rev. Hall of Woodland officiating in the English and Rev. W. H. Bulgrim in German. He was laid to rest in Lakeside Cemetery. Those who attended the funeral from away were: Mr Gottlieb Wagner, Mr Geo Kotz of Lansing, Mr and Mrs Kit Winter and son, Mrs Mabel Winter of Caledonia.
