She was born June 16, 1938 in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Tom and Clara Rafferty. Joan was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Ave Maria Guild, and Secret Sisters of St. Joseph Church. She was also active in Cursillo. Joan was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. She was married December 3, 1977 to Gaylord “Lee” Miller in Belding and he survives along with their children: Sally Ann Spry of Portland, Susan and Alex Boros of Belding, James Welch of Lodi, California, Jennifer and Jim Murton of Jackson, George and Marshal Miller of Belding, Tammie and Richard Miller and Gaylord Jr. and Kelly Miller, all of Ionia; 25 grandchildren; 8 great- grandchildren, with four more on the way; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Stan Kerzmein of Gaylord; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlene and Gordon Cotter of Ionia, several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son James, and her in-laws, George and Marjorie Miller. Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church (please meet at the church) with Father Troy A. Nevins officiating. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday with a Rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
