Feb. 14, 2021 LYONS- Shelia Joy Miller, known to everyone as "Joy:, age 79 of Lyons, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 7, 2021. She was born January 19, 1942 in Portland, Michigan. She was the only child of Dale and Martha (Lockwood) Townsend. Joy graduated in 1960 from Lyons High School where she enjoyed playing in the marching band. In 1962 she would marry a young man that she had known since kindergarten, Glenn (Larry) Miller. As a young girl Joy lived on a farm where she helped out with everyday chores including driving a John Deere tractor, which she loved. Joy enjoyed life, always looking for the positives in every situation. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. She loved singing and playing her tenor saxophone at her local church. She enjoyed camping trips, fishing, hunting and riding her motorcycle with her family. Joy also loved going for impromptu car rides on Sunday afternoons and loved to go see Southern Gospel Quartet concerts. Joy also worked for over 20 years at Meijer before retiring. Joy is survived by her husband of 58 years, Larry Miller of Lyons, daughter, Autumn (Scott) Ferris of Lyons; son, Dale (Nancy) Miller of Ionia; grandchildren, Christopher Ferris, Jacob Ferris, Bethany (Dave) Cooper and FaithAnne Miller and great-grandchildren, Caden Ferris, Krisalynn Fedewa and Jaxon Fedewa. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements cared for by Lake Funeral Home in Ionia.
